Expected in February, the Steam deck allowing you to play your games Steam everywhere will be able to count in its arsenal of fully functional games the masterpiece that is Portal 2.

Last October, Valve also presented us with its Deck Verified verification program, of which the game mixing FPS and devilishly brilliant puzzles becomes the first standard bearer.

As a reminder, Deck Verified aims to indicate how playable a title will be on Steam OS 3.0. Portal 2 is thus the very first game in Steam's vast catalog to receive the precious "Verified" sesame. This means that it will work perfectly smoothly and with the native controls of the Steam Deck.

It should be noted that the version of Portal 2 that the Steam Deck will run will be the Windows version using DXVK and Proton, and not the Linux version as one might expect. The Windows version was indeed considered to offer better performance.

With just a month to go, there is no doubt that verification of games of all stripes for the Steam Deck will greatly accelerate. As such, Valve offers a service to assess console compatibility for developers. They can find out how well their game can perform on the Steam Deck, and get recommendations to ensure they receive the coveted “Verified” designation.

We should therefore very soon have a wave of verifications for many AAA and independent games. This is so that the Steam Deck has a large catalog of games that can run perfectly on this separate console, as soon as it is released.
