With Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Nintendo wants to implement change to one of its most lucrative franchises. In response to players who advocated a need for renewal, GameFreaks decided to think outside the box: explore multiple areas, an older era taking place in an imaginary version of feudal Japan, new information on the lore of the series, the title promises to be a breath of fresh air.

But this ambitious new direction has a cost and according to the latest rumors it will be at the expense of features appreciated by the community.

Breeding mechanics removed?

Renowned for its proven leaks, the insider Riddler_Khu shared new information on his Twitter account, now private. According to this always well-informed user, Pokémon Legends: Arceus would have removed several gameplay elements. Starting with Talents (Special Abilities) and the ability to let creatures hold items. Where the community may be disappointed will be the alleged absence of the breeding system, a mechanic particularly appreciated by fans in search of the perfect Pokémon.

Conversely, Pokémon Legends: Arceus would implement some new features, one of which would have been revealed by the same informant. The next Nintendo Switch exclusive, expected for this January 28, 2022, would add a new mechanic that would only allow players to increase the statistics of their companions using candies like Pokémon Let's Go. IVs will still be present, but will no longer be used to calculate statistics.
