Communication about the PlayStation VR2 has drastically accelerated in recent weeks. However, the famous virtual reality headset designed by Sony may not be released this year.

Last January at CES, the Japanese firm lifted the veil on the technical specifications of its next VR headset. Many improvements are quite logically made compared to the current model. Two OLED screens (2 x 000 pixels) will be present, with a 2° field of view, directly integrated vibrations and better motion capture. Sony finally revealed the final PlayStation VR040 design last month.

No gifts for Christmas

Since we now have all the information in hand, all that's missing is a release date. Alas, if we listen to the YouTube channel PSVR Without Word, we will have to be patient. Thus, the PlayStation VR2 should not arrive until the first quarter of 2023. Sony would like to wait to be able to offer as many units as possible at launch to avoid stock shortages. This problem is also found on the side of the PS5, because it is currently very difficult to find the console.

At the moment, we only know of one game designed for the PlayStation VR2. These are Horizon; Call of the Mountain, which was also presented in January via a short trailer.
