We are witnessing a real commotion at Sony as the release of the new PlayStation Plus approaches. The Japanese manufacturer is quite logically preparing the ground, and this is not necessarily good news for some players.
On June 22, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now will merge in Europe. Until then, the two services will continue to operate independently, but the Japanese firm is already thinking about what's next… Thus, benefits for current subscribers will disappear in the coming days. Indeed, a Reddit user noticed that several games will be removed from PlayStation Now shortly.
A real exodus
Right now, about 56 games are showing (more or less sporadically) expiration dates set for the month of May. These PlayStation Now titles may no longer be available in future PlayStation Plus. Among the big names, we find for example Metal Gear Solid 4 and 5, Silent Hill HD Collection, Sonic Mania, Yakuza 4 and 5 or Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. A total of 11 Sonic games appear in this list, which can be viewed at this address.
Of course, the PlayStation Plus will provide compensation to its subscribers, since the Essential formula will contain around 400 PS5 and PS4 games in free access. As for Premium subscription holders, they will also get 340 additional games from Sony's older consoles and exclusive trial versions for recent releases.
