Sony would indeed be on the verge of counter-attacking by launching its new subscription service in a few weeks. A way to counter the invincible Xbox Game Pass which never ceases to inflate its offer.

Last December, the first rumors about a certain Project Spartacus were on the horizon. Behind this code name would hide a new service concocted by Sony. There would be talk of a kind of merger between PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. Today, while the Japanese manufacturer remains silent, new information reaches us.

An almost imminent launch?

Still according to journalist Jeff Grubb, this famous service is finally approaching its launch date. Grubb mentions the fact that Sony could put itself in battle order (but not necessarily publicly) by the end of the month. Even better, Project Spartacus would offer three formulas. A so-called “Essential” at 10 dollars/month, an “Extra” at 13 dollars/month and a “Premium” at 16 dollars/month. The principal concerned adds that these prices may not be exact.

According to Grubb, the “Essential” formula will have the same advantages as the current PlayStation Plus (multiplayer, free games, etc.). The “Extra” subscription would include a catalog of downloadable titles (between 250 and 300). Finally, the “Premium” package would include the possibility of playing in streaming (like the current PlayStation Now) and of accessing “classic” games as well as demos. We just have to wait.
