Planet Zoo: the next European DLC takes us on a journey to the Alps

Frontier Developments has finally shared the contents of the next DLC of Planet Zoo, which will make us travel in Western Europe and especially in the great mountains of the Alps. If the DLC is paid and scheduled for December 14, it will be accompanied by update 1.8 which also offers free additions to players.

Frontier still strikes an interesting balance between new paid content and new mechanics added for free, making its theme park building games (Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo) well-watched titles filled with regular new releases.

It's the anthem of our mountains

In this ninth DLC at 9,99 euros dedicated to Europe, Frontier will already bring us five new animals from this region: the Eurasian lynx, the Alpine ibex, the European badger, the fallow deer and finally the spotted salamander which cannot be shown only in exhibition and not in its habitat (a salamander is much too small to follow it well). Each new animal will have, like its predecessors, its own challenges and needs.

The arrival of the badger will be accompanied by the mechanics of the burrows deployed in the free update 1.8. The animals will be able to seek refuge and settle there, and it will be possible to see everything that happens in their hiding places thanks to a camera automatically installed during the construction of the burrow in the habitat. There may even be births.

Some 250 new landscape objects will complement the total collection, with inspirations from Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. Objects grouped together in a Winter theme will also make their arrival to give a slightly more cozy atmosphere to our zoological park. And finally a new timed scenario will arrive, in which it will be necessary to manage a park composed of three distinct areas at the foot of a large mountain in the Alps.

New mechanics

This DLC will therefore be deployed at the same time as version 1.8 of Planet Zoo which will bring its share of welcome and, above all, free new features. While there are no free pets, players will finally be able to stop downloading less-than-efficient restaurant workshop plans created by players. Restaurants are becoming commercial buildings in their own right that can be personalized down to the smallest detail, from the number of tables to the creation of a terrace or not.

A new building again very customizable (but are there non-customizable buildings in a Planet?) will be the store counter. Rather than installing a large structure to sell trinkets, it will be possible to place small counters on the edges of the paths that will sell a selection of various objects from the different stores available in the game.

Finally, it will be possible to install commemorative plaques for dead animals in our zoo. A new UI option will allow you to see up to 200 of your animals who will have perished during the game, with the possibility, for each, of dedicating a commemorative plaque to them to place in the park, which will boost the mood of the visitors who will read them.
