Still in the shadows, the development of the reboot of the iconic FPS undercover crossbreed Perfect Dark is experiencing a new twist.

While the ambitious project announced as a AAAA by Microsoft should show up this year, the parent studio The Initiative regrets the departure of nothing less than the director of the game.

Joanna Dark compromise ?

Since its announcement at The Game Awards 2020, the return to great fanfare of elite spy Joanna Dark has been jeopardized on several occasions. The Initiative, a studio specially created by Microsoft to carry out the project, has indeed accused the departure of many people in high-placed positions. So much so that the studio announced last September a partnership with Crystal Dynamics (Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Marvel's Avengers).

Over the weekend, Dan Neuburger, director of The Initiative's Perfect Dark reboot, unofficially announced his departure from the studio after almost four years of loyal service via his LinkedIn profile, cited in source below. If we can see a project that goes down the drain given the many departures at The Initiative, this could also indicate that the title is approaching the end of its development.

This would corroborate the rumors indicating that a presentation in good and due form of the game, and not a simple teaser, could take place during the year. Let's bet that Joanna Dark is wisely biding her time in the shadows and will strike when the time is right...unless the very ambitious project ends up being buried body and stone.
