If the weight of the game in pre-loading has not yet been globally specified, it will be different depending on the platforms:

  • On Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, pre-loading of Outriders is already open;
  • On PS4 and PS5, it will begin 48 hours before the game's release, scheduled for April 1 at midnight local time;
  • On Steam, a precise date and time for the pre-loading is still under discussion within the teams, which we will tell more about next week;
  • On the Epic Games Store, the question does not even arise, pre-loading of games is not yet an available feature.

When it comes to game launch time, consoles have quite the advantage, with Outriders rolling out on April 1 at midnight local time. The PC and Google Stadia versions will roll out later the same day at 18 p.m. PST.Read also:

The traditional Day One Patch already detailed

In order to allow everyone to jump into the action as soon as the game launches, Square Enix hopes to integrate the Day One Patch into the pre-loading of the game, on platforms that have this option.

This patch should bring its usual batch of bug fixes and performance improvements. He is also looking at the camera in cutscenes and in-game, to make it less finicky and awkward for players.

Another very significant element of this Day One Patch: the possibility of choosing the framerate of the cutscenes, blocked at 30 fps in the demo. We will be able to pass them up to 120 fps on PC, 60 on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and… no change on PS4 and Xbox One, unfortunately.

Square Enix also took the opportunity to draw up a sort of roadmap of the patches expected once Outriders was released. We should therefore expect better controls for controllers, improved loading times on Xbox One and PS4, better performance in co-op and the arrival of cross-play in the near future.

This is apparently not an exhaustive list, which will be supplemented according to feedback after the launch of Outriders, scheduled as a reminder on April 1st.
