The series of Batman Arkham definitely marked the previous decade of video games. While the latest episode, Arkham Knight, landed almost seven years ago, the question of a new episode very often comes up on the carpet. A question answered by Kevin Conroy, the actor who plays Batman in the games.

While Gotham Knight has just found its release date, is the famous Batman Arkham license destined to remain in the dark?

No future for Batman Arkham?

Originally developed by the Rocksteady studio, today at work on Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, the Batman Arkham saga should have returned to the hands of Warner Bros. Games Montreal (Batman: Arkham Origins). Indeed, concept art of a canceled game, featuring Damian Wayne long after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, had been unveiled. The teams have since focused on the development of Gotham Knight, more focused on cooperation. However, is the idea of a new Arkham definitively abandoned?

In an interview, the original voice of Batman in the Arkham series (among others), namely Kevin Conroy, shared his opinion when the question of a new episode was openly posed to him:

“I wish that were the case, really. Because people ask for it all the time”.

The actor did not stop there and went on to express that if a sequel did not see the light of day, in his opinion, it was only for questions of time and production costs. He also recalls how Batman: Arkham Knight was an expensive and ambitious project for the British studio. In other words, and in order to avoid any disappointment, it is better to avoid hoping for the return of the Bat within the Arkham license for years to come…
