Sony would have made sure to avoid that Resident evil village is not released on Game Pass within 12 months of its launch, while leaving the possibility of integrating the game into its own subscription services during this period.

A document, the authenticity of which is not 100% established and which must therefore be taken with a grain of salt, seems to indicate that Sony has added an anti Xbox Game Pass clause to a contract signed with Capcom concerning the release of the highly anticipated Resident EvilVillage.

PlayStation would secure Resident Evil Village

In one of the paragraphs of the contract, we can indeed read: "The publisher shall not authorize, assist or encourage any third party to include the game in any competing subscription platform […], including but not limited to Google Stadia Pro, Xbox Live Gold, xCloud or Game Pass”.

In the following paragraph, it is written that for a period of one year after the release of the game on PlayStation media, Sony Interactive Entertainment must have "the exclusive right of first negotiations and the last word" to include Resident Evil Village within PS Plus, PS Now or "any other PlayStation subscription service".

This last passage is interesting since there are rumors of the launch of a Game Pass competitor by PlayStation. Sony thus leaves the possibility of adding this game to the catalog of this new platform (or new version of PS Now) before the Game Pass.
