La Nintendo Switch will celebrate its fifth anniversary in March and the Japanese manufacturer's machine is doing like a charm. The famous hybrid console has also passed a symbolic milestone at the start of the year.

All is well for the Nintendo Switch, which remains in excellent momentum in terms of its sales. This week, the Japanese firm detailed its financial results for the period from the beginning of October to the end of December 2021. And while the PS5 is struggling to achieve its objectives due to the global shortage of semiconductors, the Nintendo console , probably less impacted by this phenomenon, does not slow down the pace.

Ever-increasing numbers!

Thus, during the fourth quarter of 2021, 10,67 million Nintendo Switch were shipped. This brings the total consoles worldwide since March 2017 to 103,54 million units. The iconic Wii, and its 101,63 million copies, is therefore dethroned at the same time. Over the whole of the current fiscal year (which will end on March 31), Nintendo hopes to ship 23 million Switches, or around 4 million additional machines.

In terms of games, Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl were a hit with 13,97 million copies sold. Among the biggest hits of recent months, we also find Mario Party Superstars (5,43 million), The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD (3,85 million) and Metroid Dread (2,74 million).
