Soon the beginning of the end for the eShop 3DS and Wii U

A few months ago, the announcement of the closure of the virtual shops of PS3, PS Vita and PSP made a lot of noise on the side of Sony. On the side of Nintendo, we are obviously preparing to slow down the activities of the eShop of the 3DS, like that of the Wii U.

Indeed, a note sent by Nintendo to various developers indicates that it will be impossible for them to offer new games on the eShop of the two consoles from April 1, 2022, i.e. at the end of the current fiscal year. Information that has not yet been confirmed by Nintendo.

“It has been decided to stop accepting submissions of new Nintendo 3DS / Wii U titles on the eShop by the end of the current fiscal year. Nintendo 3DS / Wii U eShops will remain active and hotfix patch submissions will still be processed until further notice,” Nintendo's note, relayed by Nintendo Everything, would explain. Remember that for a few years now, Nintendo's efforts have focused on a single machine: the Switch.
