For fans of NieR : Automata, it is nothing less than the light at the end of the tunnel that is looming. Announced for three months now, the patch for the Steam version of the game is finally in the pipeline and will be released at the end of the week.

Yoko Taro's masterpiece will finally rise to the height of the Become as Gods Edition version available for several months on Game Pass PC, which got rid of a number of problems handicapping the Steam version of Nier: Automata.

Patches galore and Fidelity FX on the menu

Announced for July 15, this patch would correct many bugs and the overall instability of the Platinum Games title on Steam. The icing on the cake, this patch will also bring AMD's Fidelity FX technology to the game, which allows a clever game of supersampling to recover a better frame rate per second without sacrificing visual quality.

Modifications made

  • Borderless video settings
    • Borderless video settings have been implemented.
  • FidelityFX
    • A Fidelity FX option has been added.
  • High Dynamic Range Imaging
    • The system will now detect if HDR has been enabled in the Windows display settings and will automatically launch the game in this mode if so.
  • anti-crenelage
    • Adjustments have been made to the anti-aliasing option.
  • Interface textures (4K)
    • Approximately 270 icon textures, backgrounds, and other user interface elements are now compatible with 4K resolutions.
  • Cutscenes
    • Bitrate has been improved and all pre-rendered cutscenes set to stream at 60fps and provide the correct aspect ratio without stretching the image.
  • Global Illumination
    • A new global illumination option has been implemented. It offers three different levels: high, medium and low.
  • Ambient Occlusion and Blur
    • Render lenses for ambient occlusion and blur effects now display dynamic resolution based on game resolution.


Bug fixes

  • It is now possible to switch between the recently selected display modes (full screen mode, windowed mode or borderless windowed mode) for screenshots by pressing the Alt + Enter keys simultaneously.
  • Mouse cursor no longer displays when a controller is connected.
  • Frame rate stabilized at 60FPS with default settings
  • Other bug fixes have been made
