With the global success of Genshin impact, which will deploy its 2.3 update on November 24, we knew that the income within the studio was to flow. This financial growth has also made it possible to envisage an even grander future, as evidenced by the announcement made yesterday.
The MiHoYo studio therefore aims to establish itself beyond the Chinese regions which have seen it explode in the eyes of the world and has officially opened a new studio in Canada, and more precisely in Montreal.
MiHoYo Conquering the West
Following this recent installation in North America, the company is giving itself two years to bring together no less than 100 employees in this new video game creation space. It is in particular because the studio has acquired a great experience over so many years that it plans, as Forrest Liu, co-founder of the studio, recalls, to “use it to create better quality games”.
By settling in Montreal, MiHoYo wishes to make this experience fruitful by coupling it with the talents that this region of the globe is home to. It is this aura that shines in the video game industry that attracted the Chinese studio, deeply won over by “the expertise and creativity offered by this local ecosystem”.
Already working on a new game, Honkai: Star Rail, MiHoYo will use this new team to develop another project that should be AAA, action and adventure oriented, in an open and paranormal world. Unlike previous productions, the game should rather eye the side of the shooter than the RPG.
For the moment, this is the only information we have in our mouths about this mysterious big budget game. However, one of the job postings states that one of the positions will focus on designing an "open-world road network with urban and wilderness areas."
