After a first gameplay trailer presenting a mechanic of deck building, Firaxis had to address some fan concerns about its upcoming game, Marvel's Midnight Suns.

Concerns about the economic model of this tactical RPG expected in March 2022. While Firaxis has confirmed that there will be microtransactions in the game, these will only be cosmetic.

Firaxis has some cards up its sleeve

It is not necessarily excluded that games integrating a deckbuilding system, however paying, add as a bonus a system of buying cards against real money. The concern was therefore legitimate vis-à-vis Marvel's Midnight Suns, published by 2K Games and developed by Firaxis (XCOM).

The studio, however, wanted to reassure fans on this point. So there will be no microtransactions or hated lootboxes to get new cards. It will thus not be possible to obtain an unfair competitive advantage compared to those who do not draw the wallet.

However, the next Firaxis game will welcome many microtransactions, but purely cosmetic. It will therefore be possible for cold hard cash to buy new appearances for the Hunter, our character, or the superheroes accompanying him in his fight against Lilith, his mother demoness.

Whether it will be possible to get new looks for the members of the Midnight Suns through other, more conventional means, there is no telling us at this time. Let's bet we'll learn more before the game's release, scheduled for March 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
