Three years after its announcement, the continuation of the FPS Blizzard's hit will finally let itself be approached tonight at 20 p.m. in a multiplayer closed beta exclusively on PC.

If you can't wait to discover what Team 4 has concocted for us and which deserved (or not) to leave Overwatch the first of its name in limbo for almost two years, there are several ways to access this famous closed beta.

Get an email invite and Battle.net account

The simplest and less energy-consuming way to achieve this is to register via the game's official website. To hope to receive the precious sesame in your mailbox, here is the procedure to follow:

  • Have a Battle.net account;
  • Sign up for the Overwatch 2 closed beta via a dedicated page on the game's official website;
  • Hold a license of Overwatch first of the name (even the free trial version is enough);
  • Pray to receive the invitation in his mailbox linked to the Battle.net account from tonight at 20 p.m.

The invitations sent out by Blizzard tonight should, however, be directed primarily to content creators and the press, although there may be some exceptions. This first phase of closed beta of Overwatch 2 will be active until May 17, unless otherwise indicated.

In this three-week window, registered players who missed the mark will have other opportunities to receive an invitation. Besides invitations, there is another way to access the closed beta, but that will require some investment of time.

Access the beta via Twitch Drops

Valorant, the FPS from Riot Games, has proven it: nothing like the promise of accessing a closed beta by watching sworn streamers to explode the spectator count on Twitch. And the same phenomenon may be repeated as the hype around Overwatch 2 rises again.

So, from April 27 at 19 p.m. until April 28 at 3 a.m., you will be guaranteed to get access to the Overwatch 2 closed beta via Twitch Drops at handpicked streamers by watching any stream for four cumulative hours. The full list is detailed in a provided blog post, otherwise cited in source below.

If you want to support a Spanish streamer in the exercise, you will have to go to the Alphacast or Potxeca channels, starting tomorrow at 19 p.m. Again, some steps are necessary in order not to miss another opportunity to access the closed beta of Overwatch 2:

  • Link their Battle.net and Twitch accounts;
  • Hold an Overwatch license (even the free trial version);
  • Watch a stream for four cumulative hours to get guaranteed access to the Closed Beta.

What to do once the invitation has been received?

If you received an invite to the Overwatch 2 Closed Beta via email or Twitch Drops (congratulations!), then you only have a few final steps before you can test out multiplayer:

  • (If access received via Twitch Drops) Log in using the Battle.net account linked to the Twitch account;
  • Click the Overwatch icon on the Battle.net homepage;
  • Go to the “Game version” drop-down menu at the bottom left;
  • Select "Overwatch 2 Technical Beta" and install it (the download will be faster if Overwatch is already installed);
  • Play and enjoy!

If you did not receive an invitation for this first phase of closed beta, other opportunities will arise in the future. Overwatch 2 is far from being launched, and this closed beta is still what is called a “Work in Progress”.

The main purpose of this beta is indeed to operate a first stress test of the servers and to introduce more players to the new features brought to Overwatch 2 multiplayer.

These new features include technical and sound design improvements, the new 5 versus 5 orientation with a single Tank, new game modes, new maps, the new heroine Sojourn, and major changes to certain heroes. from the original game.

The official release of Overwatch 2 and the famous PvE mode should not occur before 2023, at best. So there will be many other opportunities to find Tracer and the whole gang by then, one way or another, and to see the evolution of the work done by Team 4.

And if you were lucky enough to access this closed beta phase, enjoy. Maybe we'll meet again!
