The NPCs that don't want to rip our heads off at first sight in Elden Ring are rare, but also have a tendency to eat the dandelions of the Underworld by the root.

Before making certain life-saving choices for these brave NPCs in FromSoftware's latest souls-like masterpiece, one cardinal rule is of course in order: NEVER hit an NPC unless they immediately show hostility. in your sight.
Then, depending on the quests of certain characters, everything will depend on whether you want to let them live, or abandon them to their fate.
Sellen the Witch
If you're adept at magic (or just a kind soul), it's important to keep Sellen alive. To do this, two choices are essential:
- Be sure to take his side in his fight against Jerren;
- NEVER tell him where Lusat is.
In doing so, she will remain wisely in her library and avoid certain death.
Boc the Demi-Human
The adorable semi-human who poses as a tree at the start of the game has a tragic path in Elden Ring, to say the least. If you care about his well-being, here's what to do as part of his quest line:
- Don't give him any Larval Tear (the item that allows you to reallocate all your experience points to the Academy). This will turn him into a human and immediately cause his death;
- Use the pose “You are beautiful” when this one inquires about his ugliness (while it is necessary to recognize that he is adorable).
Thops the sorcerer's apprentice
The helpful sorcerer's apprentice should understand that some wishes are not worth granting. He indeed ardently wishes to return to the Academy to resume his studies, and for this he asks you for a duplicate of the keys allowing him to cross the magic portal.
If you don't want to have his death on your conscience, don't accede to his request. But at the same time, this will prevent you from recovering from his hot corpse a very useful helmet for magicians. So ultimately it's up to you.
Iji the Counselor
The gentle giant Iji, a blacksmith by profession, is an important character in Ranni's quest, along with the jovial wolf-man Blaidd and the much less jovial Seluvis (we'll talk about him later). To save his life, continue to benefit from his services and cut a bib with him, a major spoiler is looming. So prepare the handkerchiefs to possibly hide your eyes.
Towards the end of Ranni's quest, you'll have no choice but to face the good Blaidd, driven mad by the disappearance of his mistress. If you want to save at least one of the witch's minions, don't mention her companion's tragic death to Iji. Quite simply.
Nepheli Loux the Warrior

The charming Nepheli Loux, adopted daughter of Gideon Ofnir, is at the heart of not one, but two quests. The second is that of the infamous Seluvis. To take advantage of his knowledge in the arcane arts, it will indeed be necessary to give a mysterious potion to the warrior. Warning: spoilers!
This potion will turn her into a mindless "doll" that you and Seluvis can control as you please. If you care about this brave young woman, make the evil wizard think you've done your job, but give the potion to Gideon Ofnir instead.
Boggart the Blackguard

The favorite prawn merchant of the Entre-Terres, which can be found in particular by following the indications of a certain Rya in the second region of the game, sees his destiny linked to that of the repugnant Coprophage.
If you want to continue eating shrimp at his place, here's what to do:
- Do not free the Coprophage, or kill it as part of its own quest;
- Do not buy shrimp from him after following Rya's instructions and before slaying the Coprophage. Once done, buy one of his goods and he will travel to the Capital.
We can't save everyone...
Despite all the goodwill in the world, many endearing NPCs will still meet a doom in Elden Ring. Unfortunately, life in a FromSoftware game is like that.
