Halo Infinite: a first look at BTB mode and a potential delay for the upcoming technical test

Last night, 343 Industries invited us to a live stream dedicated to the two phases of technical tests to come for Halo Infinite

The opportunity to see in preview what the lucky ones will be able to discover there, but also to learn that the technical test scheduled for this week could be a little late.

Flighting Skills

Many members of 343 Industries took turns for nearly two hours to give us a glimpse of the festivities to come for the next two technical test sessions on their next FPS.

The first part of this presentation was devoted to bots, which made their first appearance in a Halo game during the technical test in July. Thanks to the data collected by this first public event, the bots should be even more formidable in the future. A long-term job which is not finished for the teams in charge of these robotic Spartans, but which is in any case very convincing for a first try, compared to the competition.

We also discovered a new part of the Academy, which serves as a less daunting entry point for new players. Another first in a Halo game. 343 Industries introduced us to the Training mode in a map only briefly seen so far. This mode allows, as its name suggests, to face bots and fully configure your experience. Difficulty of bots, weapons and gadgets, ammo or infinite lives, and many other options allow us to practice our skills in a healthy space of our own.

Opening the Big Team Battle Vault

To close this exhaustive presentation, 343 saved us the best for last, with a first glimpse of a game in Big Team Battle mode, opposing two teams of twelve players. The mode is expected for the second test weekend next week. We were able to discover in detail a first map already seen in multiplayer teaser videos, which will be rather massive in order to accommodate all these participants.

What 343 Industries had hidden from us is that this map houses a kind of sub-objective to the classic Capture the Flag and others. Hidden in a mountainside is indeed a strong room whose door our personal AI will have to hack in order to access it. Inside, many gadgets and powerful weapons otherwise not found on the map will give us some advantage in the battle raging outside. An excellent way to occupy the twenty-four fighters in many ways, who can then focus on more than one objective.

Flight delayed due to last minute incidents

After this long presentation rich in lessons, 343 Industries unfortunately had some bad news to announce. Due to last-minute technical issues being fixed, the technical test scheduled to begin on September 24 may be slightly delayed.

The studio will not fail to keep us informed of the latest developments on this subject, but would like to point out that this technical test will take place, even if it should be a little late. As a reminder, to participate you had to be registered in the Halo Insider program before September 13th.

However, registration for this program is still useful for those who want to discover Halo Infinite in preview. A second test phase will indeed take place a priori on September 30, and 343 Industries seems to want to invite as many people as possible.

So don't hesitate to run for your sesame on Halo Waypoint, in view of new technical tests to come before the game's release scheduled for December 8 on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
