The impact of the license Half-Life on the industry and the players is undeniable. As recently as March 2020, it's a total overhaul of the first episode, fomented by fans and titled Black Mesa, which officially lands. But today, it is information around the second part that holds our attention.

While the Crowbar Collective developers were working on Black Mesa, a completely different team of fans set their sights on Half-Life 2 and intend to give it a second life.

The sequel to Project Half-Life 2: Update

In 2015, modder Filip Victor officially released Half-Life 2: Update, a mod offering a complete overhaul of the original game's lighting system, fixing a large number of bugs, adding particle effects and fog as well as a commentary mode developed thanks to contributions from the Half-Life community and some youtubers.

Anxious not to distort the original work, the mod retained the gameplay and the visual style so specific to this episode. But, if one could have thought that the work carried out by Filip Victor would stop there, new information proves the contrary to us.

The SteamDB site recently pinpointed the appearance of a collection, entitled Half-Life: Remastered Collection, which would be neither more nor less than the next version of the Half-Life 2: Update mod, made by Filip Victor in 2015 Originally envisioned as a major patch to the mod incorporating the game's expansions, the update seems big enough to grant it a full-fledged release.

At the moment, the game page is not yet online on Steam, and the project does not yet have a release date. However, even though this collection is not related to Valve, the company has given its approval for the release of the remaster.
