The feat was achieved by Sebastian Staacks, a code genius who shared his work so others can follow suit on his blog there.oughta.be, cited in source below.

To achieve this surprising result, Sebastian Staacks tweaked a cartridge from the small console a few weeks ago to offer a Wi-Fi connection to the Game Boy. Believing he could go even further, the man had fun programming the cartridge so that it could stream games in all the glory of the venerable screen of the portable console, at 20 fps.
So the idea is to launch a game on PC and stream it to the original Game Boy via the Wi-Fi cartridge. A simple process on paper, but highly technical and explained in detail by the extreme tinkerer on his blog, or via the video above.
Sebastian Staacks of course did not stop there and also presents in said video other games working as much as possible on Game Boy. Either way, it's a real feat that those who have managed to run different games from the legendary FPS DOOM franchise on a pregnancy test or a connected fridge should be in awe.
