The rumor had been swirling for a few days and it seems to be confirmed. Indeed, according to new information, Rockstar Games is working on several remasters of old opuses in the saga. Grand Theft Auto.
For the moment, the three main episodes of the PS2 era seem concerned… And their release would even be relatively close!

A whiff of nostalgia
Earlier this week, rumors from the corridors evoked the development of several remasters concerning the Grand Theft Auto license. Thus, since the sixth opus has taken a considerable delay compared to the initial plans, Take-Two Interactive would prefer to capitalize on the safe bets. Recently, the American publisher had mods for various old episodes of the saga removed… And it's not for nothing!
If we believe the rumors relayed by the Kotaku site, remastered versions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas would be in the final phase of their development. Even better, their release could take place this fall, around the end of October / beginning of November. These games are expected on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Stadia from 2021. For their part, the mobile and PC editions could wait until next year. At this time, no physical release for this trilogy is being considered.

Make new with old
Also according to Kotaku, the three GTAs would use the Unreal Engine. Aesthetically speaking, it is likely to expect new graphics mixed with old elements. Thus, the redesign should not be total and the source contacted rather evokes a rendering reminiscent of highly modded versions on PC. It is therefore useless to imagine walking the streets of Vice City with the graphics of Red Dead Redemption II.
Finally, it is the Scottish studio Rockstar Dundee which would be in charge. The latter would also lend a hand on the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S version of GTA V which is due to arrive on November 11. In short, this end of 2021 may be interesting for fans of Grand Theft Auto.
