Released just a week ago, the already divine PC version of God of War can get even better thanks to a few mods that have already started to rear their ax end.

Whether you want to enjoy better performance, better visuals, or literally be the God of War right from the start, the modding community has already gotten down to delivering a few creations of their own. So here is a short selection of the mods that we think are worth checking out to enjoy this masterpiece of the action-adventure genre on PC.

Ultimate God of War Modded Starter Save par TehRealJoka

If you are a veteran of the console version or want to enjoy the adventures of Kratos at the maximum of his power, this mod from TheRealJoka should satisfy you. This is a simple save file that includes all unlocked equipment, resources and features of Kratos fully upgraded from the start of the game. To enjoy it, simply place the file in the save folder of God of War present in the Users root.

Vulkan Launcher par Instanity

If you have an AMD graphics card and processor, this Instanity mod should help you enjoy better performance, around ten frames per second depending on the modder. As the name suggests, this is a way to launch the game through the Vulkan API, optimized for AMD hardware. However, the modder warns that Vulkan generates shader caches during the game, which could cause some untimely micro-freezes.

God of War Reshade (Ray Tracing Mod) par Sublime

If you want to add a darker ambiance to the game while enjoying ray tracing-like effects without suffering major performance drops, this Reshade from Sublime should satisfy you. This modder had already proven itself on well-known titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Final Fantasy VII Remake to improve the PC version. Particularly malleable, this Reshade allows you to apply different light effects to suit your personal tastes and magnify an already graphically sumptuous PC version.

No TAA No DOF Toggle HUD par DisablePP

Already present in our selection of the best mods to improve the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake, DisablePP returns to us with an exactly similar mod. As its name suggests, No TAA No DOF Toggle HUD allows you to disable anti-aliasing and depth of field. This is for the purpose of improving performance or having a sharper overall image quality. It is also possible by pressing the F5 key to deactivate the HUD in order to take superb shots of your adventures with Kratos in the Scandinavian lands.

A fatherly slap in constant ascent

Here is our short selection of mods that we think are worth a look to enhance an already extremely solid PC version of God of War. There are other relatively similar mods like different Reshades that might be more to your liking. We invite you if you wish to consult the Nexus Mods page dedicated to the game, cited in source below.

There is no doubt that other modders will bring their stone to the building to make this PC version as complete as possible in order to enjoy the epic and enchanting adventures of Kratos and his son Atreus with the Scandinavian pantheon... while waiting for a God of War Ragnarök which makes us tremble with impatience!
