Expected around next October, Ghostwire: Tokyo is ultimately forced to push back its original release date. Good news, since the game had not been shown for over a year.

To witness the announcement of Ghostwire: Tokyo, you have to go back to E3 2019 on the Bethesda Softworks stage. A year later, during the PlayStation 5 event in June 2020, a second trailer was unveiled… And, since this video, nothing has leaked from the premises of Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within). But this week, the studio led by the iconic Shinji Mikami has chosen to break this long silence.

A report and a big question

In a tweet posted on the game's official account, Ghostwire: Tokyo confirms its delay. Ultimately, the game will be released in early 2022. The studio explains that it needs more time while ensuring the health protection of its employees. Indeed, Japan has just declared a state of emergency before the opening of the Olympic Games. The developers no doubt have to work from home, which doesn't make it easy to produce such an ambitious title.

Finally, one question remains… Is Ghostwire: Tokyo still exclusive to the PS5? Because, like Deathloop, the game is supposed to arrive first on the Sony machine and on the PC. But since Microsoft recently acquired Bethesda Softworks, this exclusivity contract may no longer be relevant. To be continued…
