While the arrival of the Steam Deck is imminent, now an amazing news has just fallen: the famous Battle Royale Fortnite will not be supported by Valve's console. The reason ? Fight cheaters...

If more than 100 games have to date been verified to be ready from the launch of the Valve console, now Fortnite brings very bad news to those who wanted to enjoy the title in optimal mobile conditions…

A cheating story

As surprising as it may seem, the title of Epic Games, whose success is no longer to be proven, will not be supported on the Steam Deck console, coming on February 25th. This news comes from Tim Sweeney himself, who is none other than the founder and CEO of Epic Games.

A user on Twitter asked him about a potential future compatibility between Proton/Wine and Easy Anti-Cheat on Linux (Proton being the software allowing compatibility of games designed for Windows with SteamOS). And Tim Sweeney's answer leaves no room for doubt, since it is a categorical "no" that is given.

Victim of its success, the battle royale is inevitably more vulnerable to cheating than other titles. However, given the compatibility already announced between the Steam Deck and the anti-cheat software, hope still reigned for Fortnite. Tim Sweeney said he doesn't have full confidence in his company's ability to tackle cheating on a large scale, which would include a wide range of setups. Anyway, you will have to do without Fortnite if you want to acquire a Steam Deck. Although it remains to be seen how long this will actually last...
