Far Cry 6: performance gains of around 44% thanks to AMD's FSR

When released on October 7, the PC version of Far Cry 6 will bear the FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) from AMD, which announces significant performance gains accessible to all.

Unlike NVIDIA's DLSS, this technology works flawlessly on most graphics cards of recent years, regardless of manufacturer. AMD presents us with a gameplay video demonstrating, among other things, the effectiveness of FSR on Ubisoft's next FPS. Information to be taken with a grain of salt, however, because the video does not specify under what precise conditions this performance gain was recorded.

The FSR Revolution?

In this video of less than two minutes, AMD presents what fans of Team Rouge can expect in Far Cry 6. The main thing to remember for all PC gamers is support for the FSR. We can therefore see in the video the difference in performance on a stage, with or without this technology activated.

In this way we can see a clear difference, going from 60 fps on average to 90, thanks to the FSR. However, it is difficult to know which mode between Quality and Performance was used for this comparison. Likewise, we cannot say if this scene is presented in Ultra quality or if the AMD-style ray tracing reflections and shadows, also highlighted in this video, are part of it.

However, it is plausible that AMD wanted to show what its products and technologies do best. We have also been able to see what the latest AMD processors and graphics cards have in their stomachs to display a Far Cry 6 at its best. As a reminder, the next title from Ubisoft is sponsored by Team Rouge.

AMD supporters will be able to see all of this in person on October 7th. Far Cry 6 will of course also be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as well as Amazon Luna and Google Stadia.
