Elden Ring: the new update attacks the best summon in the game

Bandai Namco shared the patch notes for version 1.0.3 ofElden Ring, currently rolling out to all platforms where FromSoftware's Cardboard is available. And some new features may not please everyone.

In addition to various welcome bug fixes, this new version of Elden Ring focuses on two points in particular: the addition of new stages in certain NPC quests, and a lot of rebalancing.

The Tear Imitator summon nerfed

First, and this is not nothing, the patch notes inform us that a new NPC has been added to the game: Jar-Bairn. We still don't know who he is, but his name suggests that he could be related to this good Alexander.

Also, we learn that the quests of Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight and Gostoc can now be completed. Excellent news for lore lovers, since if we are to believe the important datamining work that has been done since the game's release, these could lead to an eighth ending for Elden Ring.

But that will be all for the fun. Version 1.0.3 also drops the ax on the Mimic Tear summon, widely considered to be the best in the game. In detail, we learn that the damage inflicted by the spirit has been reduced and that its pattern has been revised (for good or bad? We don't know for the moment).

The overpowering skill Frost stomp (Hoarfrost stomp) also sees its damage reduced and its casting time increased (too bad for the speedrunners, who were fond of it), just like the Bloody Slash. Various tweaks should also rebalance the game's PVP, currently burdened by some hard-to-parry builds.

Since its release three weeks ago, Elden Ring has sold 12 million copies. And if you are not yet part of the lot, do not hesitate to take a look at our guides to join the adventure on the right foot!
