In February 2020, we learned of the brutal departure of Daniel Houser, co-founder and historical screenwriter of Rockstar Games. A year and a half later, this emblematic figure of the video game industry launched his independent studio.

If he is above all known for his writing work on the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises, Dan Houser was much more than that… At Rockstar Games, he also worked on less prominent titles like Bully or even Max Payne 3. Thus, his departure from the starred firm had created a real earthquake capable of hitting the development of a certain GTA VI. But the main interested party has probably moved on.

A return to basics

As the Spanish site Rockstar Mag' noted, Dan Houser founded the Absurd Ventures in Games studio in the United Kingdom on June 23. He holds the role of director. According to the page posted by the English government site Companies House, this company will take care of the “development of ready-to-use interactive leisure and entertainment software”. To put it simply, the objective of this new structure is to create video games.

Of course, Absurd Ventures in Games is a very recent studio which should not communicate about its future productions for several months, even years. Thus, we will have to wait to see if something concrete will end up coming out of this company.
