There's always a moment for a little poetry

In Crusader Kings III, poetry takes on a whole new dimension and can be part of an already vast arsenal to carry out your plans. It will be generated in-game in combination with five main themes: Romance, Law, Grief, War, and Incompetence.

Characters with sharp verve will therefore be able to influence events linked to these themes and accompany them with a few verses. Here is an example shared by Paradox Interactive in its Developer Diary:

Characters carried by their muse will also be able to send their poems to members of their court and to many other characters. The appreciation of these works will depend on the theme related to the poem. Romantic verses, for example, can improve relationships and reduce stress for the recipient.

The Pen is mightier than the Sword

Even more amusing, it will be possible for a poet character to descend into his jails and torture his prisoners by hitting them with his most terrible pen. Very helpless, the latter will have no choice but to listen to him declaim his most infamous verses.

Paradox Interactive also specified in its newspaper that such an action, like any act of torture, could cause horrible stressful situations for the prisoners. Words sometimes cut deeper than any blade, as the saying goes.

Poetry will therefore make its debut in Crusader Kings III in Update 1.3, along with the game's first major DLC. The latter will be revealed in more detail by Paradox Interactive during a dedicated live stream, scheduled on Twitch on March 13 at 20 p.m. PST.
