If it's good Call of Duty: Vanguard which will be released this year, rumors are already beginning to evoke the episode which will arrive in 2022. And we may know the historical context of this opus.

Once again, Activision will take us back to the heart of World War II with Vanguard on November 5th. A period that particularly appeals to fans of the license. But for the episode which will land at the end of 2022, the American publisher seems to have selected a more contemporary context. In any case, that's what Video Games Chronicle and insider Tom Henderson are reporting this week.

Modern warfare back soon?

According to this initial information, Call of Duty 2022 will be a sequel to Modern Warfare released in 2019. The game currently has the code name “Project Cortez” and a single player campaign should be centered on American special forces. The latter would lead a kind of secret war against the Colombian drug cartels. Of course, we will have to wait until an announcement from Activision to know for sure.

Remember in passing that all of the publisher's studios are currently working on the Call of Duty license. In addition, another mobile game developed by a new team will be released very soon.
