After the rather disputed critical and commercial performances of Vanguard, Activision is on a quest for redemption for Call of Duty. The American publisher did not take too long to tease the next installment of his favorite saga.
If Activision has not announced anything officially yet, we are already certain that a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released this year. It will be a direct sequel to the title launched in 2019, and we now know the identity of the studio that will take care of it. Indeed, it was during the announcement of the latest financial results of the Activision Blizzard group that the next Call of Duty was teased.

It was on Twitter that the Infinity Ward studio confirmed its involvement in the 2022 episode of Call of Duty. The message in question reads: “A new generation of Call of Duty is coming soon. “We will not know more for the moment. However, the “new generation” twist can be confusing…
Indeed, as insider Tom Henderson mentions, this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will not be released exclusively on new generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X | S), but of course on all the usual machines. Moreover, we can assume that the recent takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft will have no impact on this opus.
