With the announcement of the postponement of Battlefield 2042 to November 19 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, DICE is revising its plans for the open beta, originally scheduled for late September.

Freeman, DICE's Community Manager, announced on Twitter that the open beta of the studio's next FPS is also delayed. An exact date will be announced later this month. Early access for those who have pre-ordered the editions of the game offering it is shifted from October 15 to November 12.

An open beta in temporary ceasefire

With a release initially announced for October 22, an open beta at the end of September would have made sense, in order to test the solidity of the game and its servers. Now that Battlefield 2042 has had its release pushed back to November 19, an open beta two months before the official release no longer fits DICE's plans.

If DICE doesn't want to share an opening window for the beta just yet, that should, according to Freeman, arrive by the end of the month. We could count on the arrival of the latter at the end of October, but we will have to wait for an official announcement from the Swedish studio to be sure.

Patience is therefore required for those wishing to plunge back into the chaos of Battlefield, except that the traditional classes of the series will be replaced here by agents. The latter are unmistakably reminiscent of those of Rainbow Six: Siege, but deployed on a much larger battlefield in 2042, the discovery of which is now scheduled for November 19.
