The situation of Battlefield 2042, supposed to be the ultimate episode of the famous license FPS of DICE, seems to be hitting rock bottom more than ever.

For the first time since its release in November, active player counts hit an all-time low yesterday on Steam… and the game is not about to come out of the water anytime soon.

“The boat is sinking, and we have our feet in the water! »

Almost six months after its release and despite a few patches acting as a patch to prevent drowning, Battlefield 2042 continues to sink inexorably. If we are to believe Steam Charts, the latest title from DICE yesterday fell below the sad record of only 1 active players.

A real shipwreck which can be explained in particular by the absence of new content (a shame for a game as a service). The first season of the game has indeed undergone a heavy postponement so that the game is deeply corrected, and some features expected from its release... are still expected.

A failure that Electronic Arts attributes in particular to the concomitant release of Halo Infinite's free-to-play multiplayer, which would have overshadowed it. The episode which was to create a shared universe within it and be the “ultimate Battlefield game” would have already found a replacement. This one would plan to return to what made the famed franchise so successful…which is pretty much everything 2042 wasn't.

Despite everything, DICE continues somehow to save the ship. This in particular by seeing its ambitions lower for the size of the cards, and by planning against all odds to inject new content at least until this summer.
