A study establishes a ranking of online games, platforms and streamers most prone to insults

As you all know, online games, regardless of the platform, have the unfortunate tendency to transform each of us into poets with a very flowery repertoire. But how much?

A study by Buzz Bingo, an English online betting site, has split a study in this direction. To carry it out, the team listened to 25 hours during several broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube Gaming, on different games and platforms. The results may surprise you.

The game of a Spanish publisher is on the first step of the podium

The first statistics are therefore interested in online games themselves. And, according to Buzz Bingo, the Rainbow Six: Siege community is the most prone to name-calling. In one hour of playing time, an average of 584 insults are said to be uttered on Ubisoft's hit multiplayer title.

The second contender for the game title making its users particularly offensive is FIFA 21, with an average of 552 insults uttered per hour. It is followed by Activision's Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone, with 484 insults per hour on its counter to close the steps of the podium.

Among other interesting results, we can see that League of Legends is only in 13th place in the ranking, with 276 insults per hour, surpassed by Chivalry II, in 10th position with 380 insults uttered per hour. He himself is dethroned by Apex Legends in 8th position with 396 insults per hour, and by Fortnite in 7th position with 408 insults per hour on his counter.

PC players seem the most affected… and xQc

Buzz Bingo then looked at the platforms on which players are the most abusive. Information to be taken with a few tweezers, however, as streamers and content creators are much more numerous on PC than on consoles. According to the Buzz Bingo study, it is indeed the PC that wins the gold medal of the most offensive community on online games.

On an average of one hour, 380 insults would be uttered by PC players, compared to 368 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S combined. In third and last position, PS4 and PS5 players seem the most (relatively) calm, with 322 insults per hour.

To conclude its study, Buzz Bingo looked at the case of the most famous streamers and content creators. And the results seem clear: xQc (former professional Overwatch player) is the most prone streamer to name-calling, with 308 swear words per hour. In third position, we find another particularly well-known streamer: Shroud (former professional player on Counter-Strike), with 237 insults uttered per hour.

Of course, this study is not intended to demonstrate absolute truth, nor does it claim to have any scientific value. However, it reveals some interesting trends, which could dampen the enthusiasm of some content creators. Indeed, their (often young) audience should not add new colorful words to their growing repertoire.
