Microsoft would prepare the return of the fighting game license Killer Instinct. In any case, this is what the insider Nick Baker of the site asserts. Xbox It was.

Born in 1994 under the leadership of Rare studio, Killer Instinct made its last appearance in 2013 with a reboot that accompanied the launch of the Xbox One.

A new Killer Instinct, but by which studio?

Phil Spencer, big boss of Xbox, explained last June that Killer Instinct could make a comeback provided “to find the right team and the right opportunity”. According to Nick Baker, Microsoft has obviously found the studio to entrust with the project. Indeed, in the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast, the insider states that a brand new Killer Instinct game is currently "in active development".

Nick Baker is unable to provide more details, except that according to him, the studios that worked on the 2013 reboot are not involved. The game was left in the hands of Double Helix Games, then taken over by Iron Galaxy for seasons two and three. The first was bought by Amazon in 2014, while the second is already working on several projects in parallel, including a new versus fighting license and the PC version of Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection. Rare is also busy between the follow-up to Sea of Thieves and its new big project, Everwild. It is therefore difficult to imagine that the British studio can take over the license.

Anyway, keep in mind that the return of Killer Instinct remains for the moment a mere rumor.
