A new Mafia would be in development... and it would be a prequel

Many players are waiting for news of Mafia 4 impatiently. However, it is patience that we will have to show! Because if the project is well under development, it should unfortunately not arrive for a long time.

It will soon be five long years since Mafia III arrived, not without a hitch, on consoles and PC. Despite mixed critical reception, the game still sold over 5 million copies. This is why 2K Games wanted to capitalize on this success by launching so-called “definitive” editions of the three games in 2020. And the Hangar 13 studio probably has more ideas.

A look to the past for a distant exit?

This week, the Kotaku site offers us some indiscretions about the next game in the saga. Thus, Mafia 4 would actually be a prequel to the trilogy that we know. Known internally under the code name Nero, the project should therefore follow events that take place before those of the first Mafia. Hangar 13 would have chosen to use the Unreal Engine 5 engine for its game, the development of which has just begun. Thus, do not expect an announcement immediately.

Finally, Kotaku also tells us that the boss of Hangar 13, Haden Blackman, has decided to leave the studio to “pursue his passion in another company”. But it's not over because the director of operations, Matthew Urban, also left recently. Hopefully, this won't have a negative impact on the production of the next Mafia.
