The web, but on console
This is an addition that was expected from Xbox owners, 6 months after the start of testing with Xbox Insiders: all Microsoft consoles finally have access to an Edge section that allows you to browse the Chromium version of the browser. Initially, Edge Xbox version is almost identical to Edge PC or mobile version. We find the tabs, a navigation facilitated by the compatibility with a mouse and a keyboard, or the synchronization of our devices to find the history, the favorites or the accounts. On the other hand, there is no possibility of installing Chrome or Edge extensions, unfortunately…
With these easier accesses to the Net, Xbox players (One and Series X|S) will be able to go to the web version of Discord and chat on their servers… but only in writing. Indeed, microphones are not supported, as indicated by The Verge, and we hope that this will soon be allowed. Other possibilities are opening up for users, such as accessing Word or Excel online, for example, if they want to create tables on the big screen.

Always more ways to play
This firmware update also allows players to access even more games, if the connection is obviously strong enough. In addition, Xbox Remote Play is finally arriving and gives console owners the opportunity to stream their Xbox games to a PC. Other novelties brought by the addition of Edge, it is now possible to stream Stadia or Steam games on your television via the browser and to play them with a keyboard and a mouse. Again, your internet connection must be solid so as not to lose fluidity and resolution.
The Game Pass has also been modified and now allows you to click on "Play later" and thus create a list of games present in the Microsoft service to do when you have time. On the PC side, the xCloud has been added to the Xbox app and allows Game Pass Ultimate members (in 22 countries only) to play quickly on PC or on iOS or Android devices without downloading.
