The year ends with very bad news for It Takes Two, one of the best games of 2021. Indeed, in the near future, the title published by Electronic Arts could be forced to find another name.

This little nugget that is It Takes Two did not go unnoticed when it was launched on March 26th. The cooperative title imagined by Hazelight (A Way Out, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons) plunges us into an enchanting universe rich in experiences as varied as they are wacky. Acclaimed by critics and players around the world, the work produced by the charismatic Josef Fares is however in turmoil.

David vs Goliath

The Eurogamer site has just learned that Take-Two Interactive has filed a complaint concerning the It Takes Two brand. The American publisher seems to judge that the name of the game is too close to his. As this USPTO document indicates, the complaint filed earlier in the year prompted Hazelight to drop the It Takes Two designation.

In a short statement, Hazelight explains hope for an amicable outcome. For its part, Take-Two Interactive did not comment. Note that the purpose of the complaint is to prevent the Swedish studio from appropriating and protecting the title of the game. Also, a name change does not seem to be mandatory for the moment to continue the marketing of It Takes Two. To be continued…
