Since its announcement last week, the Steam deck has the wind in its sails. Indeed, Valve's machine is already out of stock. As for its performance, the American brand was extremely confident.

A sort of miniature PC that looks like a Nintendo Switch, the Steam Deck is intended to run all the games accessible via the Valve store. For this, the device embeds a Zen 2 APU comprising 4 to 8 cores and clocked from 2,4 to 3,5 GHz depending on the model chosen. As for the GPU, it is an RDNA 2 signed AMD with 8 calculation units. 16 GB of RAM is also included. In short, somewhat barbaric terms that indicate a rather solid configuration.

A real PC made to last?

But when the Steam Deck was presented, some users doubted its ability to launch any game without experiencing performance issues. During an interview with the IGN site, Valve wanted to reassure the undecided. The firm explains that all games, old and new, achieve at least the level of performance targeted by the product engineers.

"So far we haven't found any games that the machine can't run."

Remember that Valve's goal is to achieve at least the native resolution of the Steam Deck, that is to say 1 x 280 pixels, all at at least 800 fps.
