This is information that shocked the entire video game industry last week. Indeed, Ubisoft has adopted the fashion of NFT, which aroused many reactions among the players as well as within the teams of the Spanish publisher.

Through the Quartz beta, users can acquire Digits in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. However, different conditions must be met to obtain these first objects which can later be resold for real money on NFT platforms. This initiative did not make everyone happy, since the presentation video posted on YouTube was received quite coldly with more than 40 negative mentions.



Developers don't understand...

This week, Kotaku published messages posted by Ubisoft employees through the company's internal communications tool. The developers highlight their misunderstanding of the arrival of NFTs in the publisher's games. A first wonders if “Is it really worth the (extremely) negative publicity that it will cause? and a second describes the announcement as "upsetting".

Another developer takes it even further by asking the question, "How can you look at private property, speculation, artificial scarcity, and selfishness, and then conclude 'yes, that's fine, I want that, let's- the in art"? Finally, employees also express their fear of being instructed to integrate NFTs into the game they are working on. Good atmosphere…
