From tabletop role-playing games to J-RPGs, there is only one Brutasse

Unlike the Borderlands 2 DLC, of which it is an obvious homage, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will not only offer a first-person perspective. To evolve in the imaginary world of the explosive Tiny Tina, the players will indeed go through a map of the world very typical of the old J-RPG. Our characters will have the cute appearance with the oversized head well known from the classics of the genre. They will be able to collect loot, go from one quest to another, visit dungeons and make random encounters in the tall grass.

The opportunity to return to a first-person view to face whimsical-looking enemies and colossal bosses in arena forms, or in more tortuous dungeons. Random encounters will also allow you to recover loot, and it will be possible to extend them in order to recover better quality. Borrowing from tabletop role-playing games, loot boxes should be tied to luck: an iconic D20 will be rolled, which will determine the overall quality of the gear they contain.

The meticulous exploration of the J-RPG-style world map will be an opportunity for the most diligent to discover unique secret areas, with their share of challenges to overcome. Some mini-quests are also exclusive to this perspective.

Another element that radically stands out from the Borderlands games that we know: character creation. Unlike previous opuses, we will have total freedom to give substance to our adventurer or adventurer. The appearance, gender, race (humans, orcs, elves… sharks?, etc.), voice and outfit of our avatar can be fully personalized by us.

Going even further than the leveling of previous titles in the franchise, here we will have the choice between six classes. From there, it's up to us to create our build with some freedom. We will have the opportunity very early in the game to choose a class, then to opt for a second later in the adventure, which can be changed at will after finishing the game.

Fantasy requires, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will not only count pop guns. For the first time in a Borderlands game, real melee weapons can be equipped. Like other weapons, they will have different attributes and rarity levels. In particular, we were able to see in the gameplay trailer presented during the PlayStation Showcase that an ax can be thrown and then called back to us. A mechanism that is reminiscent of God of War.

Very encouraging prospects for fans of the franchise as well as for fans of role-playing games, both on the table and in video games. As a reminder, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is expected on March 25, 2022 on PC, as well as on Microsoft and Sony consoles, in a standard edition, a Next Level edition for next-generation consoles, and a Marvelous Chaos edition. The latter will include its share of bonuses and goodies of all kinds, as well as the Season Pass, which includes the Ass Stallion Pack. Obviously.
