Square Enix is ​​in great shape! During the Game Awards, the Japanese publisher killed two birds with one stone by formalizing the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Intergrade Remake and the release date of forspoken. But he also took the opportunity to blow up a dike regarding the pricing of computer games.
A detour to the Epic Games Store and Steam tells us that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Forspoken will be marketed on PC at the same price as on PlayStation 5.
Games at 79,99 euros: a first on PC
The two new titles from Square Enix will go on sale at 79,99 euros each. Exactly like on PlayStation 5. A price simply never seen for a novelty (excluding deluxe or special version), which is likely to make people cringe.
It's a fact: just browse all the new PC news on Steam and the EGS. No publisher sells its games beyond the symbolic 59,99 euros, even if their console equivalent is sold more expensive. This is particularly the case of the very recent Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (a Square Enix game), referenced at 59,99 euros on PC but sold for 69,99 euros on the PlayStation Store for its PS4 and PS5 versions.
It is therefore a first that we are witnessing today, and we secretly hope that it will not be emulated. Already particularly badly received, the increase in the price of Sony exclusives on PlayStation 5 (79,99 euros) does nothing to make our favorite medium more accessible.
