Super Bowl LV comes to Rocket League

Football enthusiasts (US) have already noted in their diary the date of Monday, February 8, 00:30 (in Spain), time at which the Super Bowl LV will be held, between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chiefs of Kansas City.

In the meantime, these American football fans will be able to enjoy a new dedicated event within Rocket League! Indeed, Psyonix formalizes the holding, from February 2 to 8, of a new in-game event, which will feature a new game mode called “Gridiron”, as well as new challenges.

A new “Gridiron” mode

In "Gridiron", the rules of Rocket League will be changed somewhat. The standard ball, first, will be replaced by a US football. The latter will cling to the roof of the car when it is hit.

If a player touches the ball, he becomes the ball carrier: he must then pass for his teammates and try to keep the ball against his opponents. The wearer will be able to perform a simple jump; a double jump will cause him to lose the ball.

In "Gridiron", each goal is worth 3 or 7 points. The player will receive 7 points if he is also carrying the ball when crossing the opposing goals, and will only get 3 points if the ball breaks loose. All own goals are worth 3 points.

Psyonix explains, "We're also giving you three event challenges that you can complete in order to earn the Gridiron Guru Player Title, NFL Wheels, and 20 XP." Note that the NFL Fan Pack will also be there, with Octane stickers from the 000 NFL teams.
