The Last of Us reimagined on PS1

The Last of Us reimagined on PS1

At a time when eyes are riveted on graphics performance, fans have fun imagining what recent games would have looked like in a more distant era. One of them tackles a flagship PS4 title.

What would The Last of Us have looked like if it had been released during the PS1 era? If you have ever asked yourself this question, a player brings you some answers.

What if The Last of Us was released on PS1?

Where several players sublimate the games by switching them to 8K, or 4K for those who are a little older, others do the opposite. This practice, called demake, consists in reproducing productions of recent generations in the style of old consoles. Make old with new in short, and that's what a fan did by recreating the Capitol scene from The Last of Us in PS1 version.

The YouTubeur Rustic Games BR has therefore reimagined the emblematic game of Naughty Dog with the sauce of Metal Gear Solid. Top-down view, polygonal style, life bar or mini-map, everything is reminiscent of Kojima's work with the exception of a few static shots rather in the vein of Silent Hill. This infiltration-oriented sequence is very successful, especially since it incorporates several elements from the original game, like Joel who can eliminate enemies from behind or distract them with a bottle. This demake of The Last of Us is however not intended to be played since it is simply a demo, like what its creator did with God of War or Resident Evil Village.
