The Game Awards: our selection of the best trailers of the event

Perhaps you are one of the brave men and women who stayed awake to attend, live, the ceremony of the Game Awards which was held that night from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. But, for everyone else, we have prepared a small selection of the best trailers released during the event.

And what a ceremony! For more than 3:30 hours, between rewards, announcements and lighter moments, we were able to see some very beautiful people and get a lot of details on expected games. Newcomers that we weren't necessarily expecting were also invited to the evening, for our greatest pleasure! A quick overview of what the Game Awards had best to offer us.

Star Wars Eclipse: the appointment is made with Quantic Dream

The rumors were true. The Spaniards of Quantic Dream are indeed working on a Star Wars licensed game, which will therefore be titled Eclipse.

A project still a bit nebulous (will it be a narrative game in the vein of the studio, or a more action-oriented title?), which nevertheless offered us a sumptuous CGI trailer confirming the anchoring the game in the era of the High Republic.

At a still early stage of development, Star Wars Eclipse should be rather discreet in the coming months. Also, a release before 2023, at best, seems highly unlikely. We also do not know on which platforms the title will be available, but we are already putting a coin on next-generation consoles.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II wows us

It was one of the first games to promote Xbox Series X before it fell into limbo. Announced very early, Hellblade 2 would actually be a 2023 or 2024 calendar game.

We have time to see it coming, therefore, but impossible to remain unmoved in front of the new trailer made by Ninja Theory. We find the heroine Senua, still plagued by auditory hallucinations, who leads a group of warriors into a cave where a giant is hiding who will inevitably evoke the antagonists of the manga Attack on Titan to connoisseurs. Note that, according to the studio, this is a game sequence, and not a CGI creation.

We expected it: the game benefits from a dream plastic thanks to the Unreal Engine 5, and Melina Juergens should once again impress us with her interpretation of the Pictish warrior.

Alan Wake 2 finally turns on his flashlight

We didn't dare to hope for it anymore, but Remedy did it. Expected for 2023 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X, Alan Wake 2 is indeed real.

For the time being, we will only have a short teaser to put in our mouths. And a promise: the new game of the Finns should ogle more towards horror, while retaining its “intense atmosphere and its psychological frame”, specifies the studio.

In the meantime, we remind you that the second DLC of Control, called AWE (for Alan Wake Extension) allows you to learn more about this central character of the Remedy mythology.

Horizon: Forbidden West shows us all its majesty

Expected like the messiah by those whose PlayStation 5 takes the dust, Horizon: Forbidden West offered us a short trailer with rhythmic editing.

We discover a wide variety of scenery, jaw-dropping panoramas, but also some small combat sequences that show Aloy's agility.

As a reminder, the new Guerrilla Games game is expected on PS4 and PS5 on February 18.

Elden Ring lays the foundations of its universe

After a very exciting preview, Elden Ring fills in its gaps by broadcasting a video to better consider its narrative framework.

All in CGI, this new trailer replaces the events that will act as a backdrop for our adventure in the Underworld and suggests which adversaries we will have to face. This universe is designed, remember, in partnership with the author George RR Martin, creator of the saga Le Trône de Fer (Game of Thrones).

See you on February 25 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.

Forspoken finds its release date

The new project from the progenitors of the dented Final Fantasy XV still has everything to prove, and the appointment is now set for May 24 on PC and PS5.

In keeping with the “isekai” genre, Forspoken puts us in the shoes of Frey, a New Yorker who suddenly finds herself immersed in the fantasy world of Athia, where she acquires extraordinary powers.

Action-RPG in the open world, the game published by Square Enix provides us with a wide range of movements. Very agile, Frey will have to use his powers to save Athia from the corruption that threatens her.

A Plague Tale: Requiem comes of age

A real slap from New Aquitaine in 2019, A Plague Tale deserved a sequel to transform Asobo's essay.

Already shown in a beautiful trailer last summer, A Plague Tale: Requiem is now showing us its gameplay which should always combine combat, infiltration and… manipulation of rodents for the purpose of mass destruction.

Expected release next year on PS5, Xbox Series, PC and Nintendo Switch via cloud gaming.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 sticks out of the water

Of all the games of the Warhammer license that abound every year, this Space Marine 2 manages to stand out thanks to a convincing heritage. Released in 2010, the first opus was able to convince fans thanks to a careful realization.

Headed by the same Saber Interactive team and published by Focus Entertainment, this sequel will continue in the legacy of its predecessor. It will always be a TPS aping Gears of War offering you to kill the tyranid until you are thirsty.

Scheduled release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series at an unknown date.
