Geoff Keighley's annual event honoring the most deserving of the video game industry will be held on December 9 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

After previous editions exclusively online, especially on Twitch, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this 2021 edition of The Game Awards will once again be held in front of a real audience. In addition to this return to its original form, the event will of course be broadcast live on more than 40 different platforms.

A return to normal under the sign of precaution

If the 2021 edition of the Game Awards will welcome an audience at the Microsoft Theater on December 9, the threat of the coronavirus and its delta variant still hovers. This is why the organizers of the event will put in place health and safety protocols so that this large assembly can meet while limiting any risk.

For those not residing in the United States or unable to travel, things will not fundamentally change. It will still be possible to view the live broadcast from Twitch, YouTube or other platforms. In addition to the many awards governed by categories, Geoff Keighley's high mass will of course be the scene of "World Premieres", announcements and orchestral performances.

If it is still too early to know the categories of awards and their nominations, the jury should decide a few weeks before the event. It will then be possible for everyone to make their own predictions and vote for each category on the Games Awards site, in particular for “the game of the year according to the community”. Then all that remains is to wait for the results at the event scheduled for December 9, at an undetermined time.
