Revealed at the Xbox E3 2019 keynote, Tales of Arise has given little news since, for several reasons. The COVID-19 pandemic, of course, but also a necessary postponement to fine-tune the successor to Tales of Berseria.

This new opus, the 17th in the series, will take us on a journey in the company of Alphen, a mysterious and amnesiac young swordsman, and Shionne, a cursed young woman who will rebel against her homeland in her fight alongside her adventure companion.

Tales of Arise: nations disunited

If the two companions seem to get along well and share a common goal, this does not seem to be the case of the world in which they evolve. Rena, a magical and technological civilization, has no qualms enslaving the less evolved society of Dahna and its inhabitants, made slaves.

A scenario which remains very succinct for the moment, since Bandai Namco seems to want to put the emphasis on the gameplay and the way the game runs. to have been beneficial to the teams of Bandai Namco.

Compared to previous episodes, the open world aspect seems more significant even if we find this system of instance zones during clashes against monsters. Nevertheless, the fights and synergies between characters give the feeling of being more dynamic than ever.

Despite a misunderstanding yesterday on the announcement of the media concerned, Tales of Arise will be released on previous generation consoles, namely PS4 and Xbox One, as well as on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC. However, the game team remains silent on the question of a Switch version. Anyway, the appointment is made for September 10 in our regions.
