Many players found themselves on Steam after New Year's Eve, since Valve's platform again broke a record for active users in the evening.

The SteamDB database, which had raised the previous record of 27 active users established last November, indicates that it has been exceeded in the last seven hours to reach 384.

A year 2022 which starts with a bang for Steam

To achieve this new record, Valve's platform can thank its two golden eggs, the multiplayer FPS Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and the MOBA DOTA 2, which respectively counted 867 and 000 active users. The Battle Royale PUBG: Battlegrounds and Apex Legends as well as Grand Theft Auto V close the podium with 761, 000 and 346 active users respectively.

The Winter Sale must also have played a part in setting this record, with promotions on many games other than the top five best-selling games on Steam in 2021. sold and recorded CD Projekt RED's latest Action-RPGs Cyberpunk 2077, which has seen a massive resurgence in popularity on PC; and The Witcher 3, thanks to Season 2 of the Netflix series. We can also mention Destiny 2, which remains a bestseller on the Valve platform, even three years after its arrival on the latter.

By dint of breaking records every few months, there is no doubt that Steam will soon exceed the peak of 28 active users, or even go, eventually, beyond. See you in a few weeks or months to see if such a feat comes true or not.
