Faced with the shortage of components, Valve ultimately has no choice but to postpone its hybrid console, the Steam deck, just three weeks away from its initial release.

It was planned for December, we will finally have to wait a few more weeks to take advantage of the Steam Deck. This hybrid console, similar to what Nintendo offers with its Switch, presents itself as a completely portable PC (with the possibility of adding a dock, but expected for next year), with the promise of being able to run almost all from the catalog of Steam, Valve's online store.

The manufacturer to whom we also owe the Steam Index, a VR headset as expensive as it is powerful, then offered different models for a price starting at 549 €.

A postponement and a new salvo of pre-orders

A real craze that has just suffered a slight halt: the Steam Deck is now scheduled for February 2022, without further details.

The reason ? Lack of inventory on the component side. An embarrassing situation which is not unknown to Nintendo, Microsoft, or even Sony with its PlayStation 5, out of stock for months. Graphics card manufacturers are also concerned.

If you pre-ordered your console and the delivery was scheduled for December, it is therefore postponed to February. It is also this same month that Valve will open a new salvo of pre-orders, for delivery scheduled for the second quarter. Note in passing that the manufacturer does not promise a firm release for February: "We believe that the first deliveries of Steam Deck should be able to be honored in February 2022".

Patience is a virtue.
