Steam Deck: bad news for GOG users

Steam Deck: bad news for GOG users

It is from this week that the Steam deck can be ordered by those who have reserved it in advance. But while waiting for the fateful date, Valve's machine reveals its features a little more... like its restrictions.

The time for postponements is over! The Steam Deck is now gearing up to release across the globe. Of course, not everyone can be served, since stocks remain extremely limited. But the most impatient who have already reserved the beast will be able to have it in their hands from next week. Indeed, shipments will begin on February 28. And today, a new piece of information reaches us...

No GOG, but...

It was through a simple tweet that GOG announced that its application would not be officially supported by the Steam Deck. Fortunately, there are likely to be several fallbacks. Indeed, as the architecture of the machine designed by Valve is intended to be open, users will be able to install Windows on it. This will then allow you to launch games from GOG.

Installing the Lutris game manager is another technique to overcome this slight problem. It is an open-source software that works on machines equipped with a Linux operating system. This is pretty good, because the SteamOS of the “console” is also based on Linux. Lutris will thus be able, theoretically, to launch GOG software via the Steam Deck.
