Ā« May the fourth be with you ", as they say. Also, in anticipation of this date which marks the start of many celebrations, we are going around the (many) video games currently in development in the universe of Star Wars.

There are springs that never dry up. And the universe imagined by George Lucas in 1977 continues to make children! Already rich with more than a hundred video games in total, the Star Wars license will welcome no less than 8 new representatives in the coming years.

Star Wars : Hunters

So we can already see you rolling your eyes. Yes, the first on the list is indeed a mobile game. But when you consider the success Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes has had (and continues to have) ($1,4 billion generated since its release in 2015), the release of Star Wars: Hunters is not not insignificant.

Developed by Zynga (now a Take-Two property) and NaturalMotion, Star Wars: Hunters is a free-to-play multiplayer arena game. The title will allow us to embody a wide variety of iconic characters from the saga and to face others using blasters, lightsabers but also of course the force.

Expected release on Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Announced at the last PlayStation Showcase, KOTOR Remake is one of the most ambitious projects currently on the workbench.

Presented as a PlayStation 5 exclusive (the game will also be released on PC), it will have the immense task of reinventing a legend. Released in 2003 by BioWare, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remains one of the galaxy's most beloved RPGs to this day.

Suffice to say that the stakes are enormous for Aspyr; a studio, of course, accustomed to touching the franchise of George Lucas, but rather on the side of ports. Here we are talking about a total recreation, from scratch, of the legendary role-playing game. We bet that the studio will do its utmost to respect the original material.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake will be released on PS5 and PC on an unknown date.

Star wars eclipse

Unveiled with great fanfare at the Game Awards 2021, Star Wars Eclipse represents nothing less than the most ambitious project from the Spanish studio Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human).

Having so far offered us nothing other than a sumptuous trailer, the game should be inspired by The Last of Us license. We understand that we will be dealing with a third-person game, quite interventionist without being completely closed, which will alternate between nervous action-adventure phases and more narrative moments.

However, we should not wait for Star Wars Eclipse for several years. A project perhaps announced a little early, but which above all allows Quantic Dream to motivate recruits to come to its premises ā€“ the studio obviously lacks the manpower to progress as it wishes.

Star Wars Eclipse will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S...one day.

Star Wars Jedi : Fallen Order 2

It was an open secret: Star War Jedi: Fallen Order will be entitled to a sequel. Yes, it is this kind of privilege that you access once you have sold more than 10 million copies.

Still overseen by Respawn Entertainment, this sequel is still very nebulous for the moment. We should logically find the Jedi Cal Kestis and his adorable companion BD-1 in new adventures, while the Empire continues its Great Purge of the Jedi Knights.

Presumably expected for 2023, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 could however ignore older generation consoles. Even if his eldest was available on PS4 and Xbox One, it would therefore be necessary to buy a new machine to take advantage of it.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 will release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S (and potentially PS4 and Xbox One) at an unknown date.

Star Wars FPS (untitled project)

In addition to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 that we have just mentioned, Respawn Entertainment is also working on an FPS in the universe of George Lucas.

Headed up by Peter Hirschman, who was notably a producer on the original Star Wars: Battlefront, this shooter is currently one of the most nebulous projects on the list. We do not know its name, its release date, or the platforms on which it will be available.

We can nevertheless imagine that this title should act as a soft reboot of the Battlefront license, whose last opus did not quite meet all expectations.

Star Wars strategy (untitled project)

Still in the bosom of Electronic Arts, we recently learned that a real-time strategy game in the Star Wars universe was in development.

This would be developed by Bit Reactor, a new studio founded by people who have worked on the XCOM or Civilization licenses. Greg Foertsch, the CEO of the studio, was also artistic director of XCOM and XCOM 2.

We don't know the release date or the launch platforms for this new game.

Star Wars open-world (untitled project)

Electronic Arts no longer having the preserve of the Star Wars license, Ubisoft has also placed its balls to develop an action game in the open world.

Headed by Massive Entertainment, the studio behind the two The Division, the game is presented as being very scripted. Given the publisher's history, it's easy to imagine a kind of Assassin's Creed with a Star Wars overlay.

Pending further details, Ubisoft has already declared that this project constitutes ā€œthe beginning of a long-term collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm Gamesā€. Suffice to say that we will eat all the sauces.

Star Wars par Skydance New Media

Amy Hennig is back in business! The screenwriter who notably worked on Legacy of Kain or the first two Uncharted was finally offered the opportunity to carry out her Star Wars game project.

Indeed, Amy Hennig was already at the head of the bridge on the ā€œRagtag Projectā€ with the Visceral Games studio. But Electronic Arts swept it under the rug with the ashes of the studio, which closed in 2017.

At the head of a newly created studio, Skydance New Media, the director will be able to give substance to an action-adventure game endowed, we are told, with a fairly strong narrative dimension.

The game has no name and therefore, you can imagine, no release date or medium announced.
